Central heating
Here are some useful tips for saving energy on your central heating.
Central heating
- Set your central-heating boiler to 60°C rather than the factory setting of 80°C. This is a quick way to save a lot on gas. In poorly insulated or draughty houses, the central-heating boiler might struggle to bring the house up to a comfortable temperature, causing it to fail over time. Always consult the user manual or visit www.zetmop60.nl (in Dutch). Avoid adjusting the tap-water setting.
- Remember to bleed your radiators at least once a year. Is your radiator making a ticking or gurgling sound? Or is it no longer heating up over the entire surface? This means it needs bleeding. (Source: SlimWonen (in Dutch))
- Turn your thermostat down, even by just one degree. When working at home, 19°C is often warm enough.
- Fans can help blow warm air around the room, so place some under your radiators to get the room up to temperature faster and more evenly.
